To meet the operational and regulatory needs of our clients, we have developed the expertise to provide many layers of defense that are tailored to the specific needs of each client.

Perimeter Defenses

Zebec will take full responsibility for the implementation and management of a clients perimeter defenses. This includes, but is not limited to, border routers, wireless networks, dial-in access points, firewall and VPN connectivity. In order to effectively manage this implementation, Zebec works closely with the client to understand minimum necessary connectivity requirements and to provide professional assistance in understanding the risks that is involved with each decision for enabling access.

Anti-virus and Anti-spam filtering

Zebec offers external anti-virus and anti-spam filtering services wherever a client hosts its email servers. This can be on a dedicated or non-dedicated server located at Zebec or be hosted at another location entirely. By off-loading anti-virus and anti-spam filtering to an external gateway, clients can save on bandwidth consumption and critical server resources that will often create a problem when performing these functions directly on a mail server.

In addition to email based filtering, Zebec also supports and maintains standard anti-virus implementation and maintenance on servers located at Zebec. This includes the installation, monitoring and ensuring that automated virus definition updates are appropriately applied.

Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Prevention services

Zebec has experience working with clients in understanding the implications and expectations that are appropriate for intrusion detection and intrusion prevention implementations. Zebec can work with clients to understand their true needs and goals and to implement a solution that will meet their operational or regulatory needs.

Vulnerability Scanning

Routine internal and external vulnerability scans are an integral part of a complete defense-in-depth strategy. Zebec brings experience in performing these scans and in assessing the results to determine relevance and severity. This can be done as a one time assessment or as an ongoing scheduled audit.

Patch Management

Perhaps the most critical component of a security defense strategy is maintaining current patches on all production equipment. Zebec offers to its clients as part of its managed services offerings to management the implementation of patches on client systems. Clients not wishing to release the responsibility for managing and implementation of patches to Zebec can still benefit from having access to the infrastructure Zebec has built to make this feasible across its clients’ environments. This includes automated reports about which patches have not been applied and a local central repository where patches are stored to minimize bandwidth needs.

Event log monitoring, correlation and reporting

As part of standard monitoring services, Zebec continually works to consolidate information from multiple sources to provide a centralized correlation engine to look for potential operational or security issues. By utilizing Zebec for this service, clients can benefit from years of expertise in identifying and reporting on issues that are worthy of attention.
